What To Expect

Entering a therapeutic relationship is a big step and finding an appropriate therapist is critical. Psychotherapy has both risks and benefits, however the therapeutic alliance is designed to carry you through both. Common risks include feelings of discomfort such as sadness, anxiety, and anger. This experience is understandable as people are often discussing very challenging subjects in therapy that are otherwise avoided. Benefits, however, include increased functioning in your life, more effective interpersonal relationships, strategies for navigating issues, and reduction in feelings of distress.
